I recommend painting to anyone.
Painting is good therapy. My art has brought tremendous
joy to my life.
My paintings have become increasingly colorful. When I
look at one of my paintings, I know where I was
emotionally at the time and what I was thinking. In that
way, my paintings are like a personal journal.
I
feel privileged to show my art at the Children's
National Medical Center. Since painting my "America's
Children I," I have wanted an affiliation with a
children's group. For quite some time, I had envisioned
painting my children paintings. In February 2001, I
began painting my "America's Children I." I had kept the
central character the same in my "America's Children II"
and America's Children III." Some of the children are
inspired by pictures given to me by family or friends.
Others are simply made up.
in
my multiple panel paintings, I try to balance the color
and composition in a way so that the paintings do not
appear overly or intentionally balanced to the viewer. I
paint every section to stand on it's own. Yet, my goal
in some of these series is to connect the center panels
so that when places together they form one
artistic subject.
Painter's block .... I can not remember experiencing. I
do not have enough time to paint; a lifetime would not
be enough. The morning after I have painted reminds me
of Christmas morning as a child when I could not wait to
get up and open my presents. I always enjoy getting up
and going downstairs to see the new additions to my
paintings in progress.
I
appreciate all the support of the children's National
Medical Center, my friends, other artists, and the
Capitol Hill Community.
